Mariners unveil new HD video screen

SEATTLE — The Seattle Mariners introduced their new high-definition video screen at Safeco Field Thursday afternoon.

The new screen is one of the largest in American professional sports venues, measuring at 57-feet high and more than 200-feet wide.

The screen replaced the original board above center field that dated back to the opening of Safeco Field in 1999.

“And beginning today, we will never watch Mariners baseball at Safeco Field the same way again,” said Marketing Vice President Kevin Martinez.

Another major change that was made in the stadium involved the outfield fences, which were moved in.

The Mariners home opener is on April 8 against the Houston Astros.
