Many residents displaced after Skyway apartment fire

SKYWAY, Wash. — A fire damaged a Skyway apartment building early Thursday morning, and displaced many residents, fire officials said.

Firefighters responded to a fire at the Green Tree Apartments in the 6900 block of South 123rd Street around 2:30 a.m.

At least 30 to 40 occupants are displaced and are being assisted by volunteers with the Seattle Red Cross. They will be providing housing, clothing and food to those who were affected.

Multiple units were damaged by the fire.

A public information officer told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News that the fire is not suspicious.

At this time, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
