PORT ORCHARD, Wash. - South Kitsap Fire Rescue crews are investigating a fire that destroyed a man's Port Orchard home Sunday evening.

A spokesman for the fire department says the fire broke out after 10 p.m. at a home in the 8300 block of Pelican Lane Southeast.

The homeowner was not at the residence at the time. Investigators say the flames were too intense to save the home.

They do not yet have a cause but say the home is a total loss.

No one was injured but a family dog is unaccounted for at this time.
