Man who fled from police arrested on charges of child molestation

SEATTLE — A 29-year-old man is in custody on charges of child molestation following a search Monday night in the Rainier View neighborhood.

Officers were called to the 11600 block of Beacon Avenue South at 10:30 p.m. by someone reporting that a 29-year-old man was masturbating in front of his 11-year-old stepdaughter.

When the man was confronted by officers, he ran from the house, policed said.

Officers arrived with a K-9 team that began tracking the man.  After about 20 minutes, the man was found and arrested in the 11800 block of 54th Avenue South.

He was positively identified by witnesses and booked into the King County Jail for investigation of child molestation.

Detectives from the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit have been assigned to the case.
