Crews rescue hiker who fell at Wallace Falls

GOLD BAR, Wash. - A 23-year-old man who slipped and fell down at Wallace Falls near Gold Bar was rescued Friday afternoon.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said the man traveled about 40-50 feet down the falls before he was able to stop and get on top of rocks. 

Authorities told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News a passerby saw the man and called 911 at about 1:30 p.m. It is unknown if the passerby saw the man fall or saw him afterward. 

Technical Rescue firefighters and the Monroe Fire Department helped the Gold Bar Fire Department in the rescue. 

A firefighter was able to reach the man and help him for a helicopter rescue. 

At about 4:45 p.m. the man was rescued by a crew and the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office’s helicopter, SnoHawk.   

The hiker was then taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

 According to authorities, the man was hiking with friends when he slipped, and he was rescued in the middle area of the lower falls.
