Man wearing tuxedo found unconscious, robbed on Belltown street

SEATTLE — Detectives are trying to determine what happened to a 33-year-old man who left a wedding reception early Monday morning and was found bloodied and unconscious on a Belltown street several hours later, missing his wallet, watch and cellphone.

Detectives believe the man was with his friends in the wedding party until about 1:30 a.m. Monday when he left a hotel at Fourth Avenue and Stewart Street.
The man and a group of friends, who were all wearing matching tuxedos, had planned to go to a bar, but he never arrived at the bar. The man’s friends apparently did not realize he was missing.
After the bar closed at 2:30 a.m., the wedding party was walking back to their hotel when an ambulance driver stopped them and said he had just transported a man, who was found unconscious, hurt and wearing a tuxedo, to Harborview.
The group then realized they had not seen the 33-year-old man at the bar.
Police were first notified of the incident at 12:30 p.m. the same day and an officer was dispatched to Harborview to take a report.
The 33-year-old man was still unconscious, but when officers learned the man’s wallet, cellphone and watch had been taken, they referred the case to the robbery unit.
Detectives are still investigating whether the 33-year-old man, who has been in and out of consciousness this week, was attacked, but because he was missing his wallet and other items, police are investigating the case as a robbery.
Anyone who saw a man in a tuxedo near Fourth and Blanchard late Sunday night or early Monday morning, or has any other information about the case is asked to contact SPD’s robbery unit at 206-684-5535.
