Man uses hot weather to steal from West Seattle homes

SEATTLE -- A burglar in West Seattle took advantage of people beating the heat by leaving doors and windows open as he burglarized house after house.

Several homeowners even came face-to-face with 33-year-old Jason Wyman, according to a Seattle police report from Saturday.  Police said Wyman went to house after house in West Seattle.  He was confronted by at least two homeowners and ran both times, police said.

One homeowner even caught him on home security video, police said.

Police said they eventually spotted Wyman in the 4300 block of SW Southern Street, and he claimed to be suffering from heat exhaustion and gave cops a false name. He was carrying a black women's designer bag containing assorted items apparently taken from homes, police said, including a laptop, assorted mail and a cold six-pack of Coca-Cola.
