Mason County 'abduction attempt' a mistake

MASON COUNTY, Wash. — A report of an attempted abduction of a 13-year-old boy in the Grapeview area of Mason County turned out to be a mistake.

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office said the mother of the teen arrived at the intersection of East Fox Run Lane and East Grapeview Loop Road about 2:10 p.m. on Monday to pick up her son and saw man a man in a truck talking to the boy.

The boy's mother did not recognize the man or his truck and reported the incident to police, but after a block watch notice was sent out, neighbors told officers they knew the man, who had helped the special needs child off the bus.

No crime was committed, police said.
