Man stabbed several times at Tacoma beach party

TACOMA, Wash. — A man was stabbed multiple times early Wednesday morning at a beach party, according to the Tacoma Police Department.

The incident happened off Marine View Drive near the mouth of the Hylebos Waterway around 1:30 a.m.

Tacoma police told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Rick Price there was a party on the beach with young adults. Two men, ages unknown, then got into a fight. One of them pulled out a knife and stabbed the other several times.

Police said the man was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center and has been in surgery as of Wednesday morning. Officers did not know if his injuries were life threatening.

KIRO 7 was first at the scene around 2:30 a.m. when a dozen people were waiting to talk with officers.

According to police, officers interviewed the suspect, but they did not arrest him.

The other witnesses at the scene were brought into police headquarters to give their statements.
