Man shot in chest in Federal Way

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Police are looking for a gunman after a motel shooting that left a man shot in the chest Sunday evening in Federal Way.

The shooting happened at the Super 8 on South 374th Place near Highway 18.

According to police, the shooting started with an argument.

Charles Fosset was checking into the Super 8 and told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News what happened.

“All of a sudden we just heard gunshots out of nowhere,” Fosset said. “At least three shots.”

After Fosset heard the gunshots, he went outside in the parking lot and called 911.  Fosset also saw the victim get into a car.

“We heard, ‘Man, I’m shot; 911, call 911,’” Fosset said.

Police told KIRO 7 a friend drove the victim in a Cadillac to a neighboring Walmart. A King County Medic One arrived at the location to find the man with a gunshot wound to his chest.

The man was rushed to Harborview Medical Center. His condition is unknown at this time.

The Federal Way Police Department told KIRO 7 that several people were involved with the shooting.

“We have Several people involved at different degrees of involvement, so that’s going to take some time to sort out,” said Federal Way police commander Kyle Sumpter.

After the shooting occurred, police said a group of people scattered.

“We have multiple scenes here. We have several scenes here. Cars that fled the area have been stopped at other locations,” Sumpter said.
