Man shot in chest after fight in West Seattle

SEATTLE — A man was shot in the chest early Saturday morning after an altercation in West Seattle, police said.

According to the Seattle Police Department, after 2 a.m., a man was walking with friends in the 9200 block of 30th Avenue Southwest in front of a house.

People inside of the home came out.

Police said the man got into a fight with another man in the yard and on the sidewalk area of the home.

One of the people inside of the house had a handgun on his belt, and the other man took the gun and shot the victim in the chest.

The shooter gave the gun back and drove off in his car, according to Seattle police.

The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center, and his condition is unknown at this time.

Police identified the shooter, found him at his Queen Anne home and arrested him without incident.

The shooter was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of assault.

It is unknown what precipitated the fight disturbance between the victim and shooter or if they knew each other.

An investigation of the incident will continue.
