EVERETT, Wash. - A trip to Denny's for dinner turned into a long and gruesome evening Tuesday night in Everett.
At about 8:30 p.m., a man came stumbling up in front of the restaurant and fell to the ground, dead.
Witnesses told Everett police he came from the direction of the Sunrise Inn at 8421 Evergreen Way, and they saw a vehicle speeding away from the scene. Officers later found that car and are investigating to see if it was involved in the shooting.
Multiple people associated with that vehicle have been detained for questioning.
A cook who arrived for his shift at about 9:30 p.m. was confused and frantically tried to reach co-workers inside. All they could tell him was that a man had died just steps from the restaurant's front door. They and their customers were kept inside by police.
As of late Tuesday night, detectives were still interviewing witnesses and still trying to piece together a timeline of events.
