Man shot in leg after dispute in West Seattle

SEATTLE — A man shot another man after an alcohol-related dispute in West Seattle, police said.

The incident happened around 2:46 p.m. when officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex in the 3200 block of Southwest Avalon Way.

Police said during an investigation, it indicated that two men who knew each other were intoxicated, and got involved in a dispute with another man at the entrance of the apartment building.

The man at the entrance punched the 25-year-old man and the other man, 26, went inside to return to his unit.

When the victim returned to the 26-year-old’s apartment, he confronted him.

According to police, the 26-year-old pulled out a pistol and shot the victim.

The victim left the apartment to get help and an unrelated witness called 911. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of a non-life threatening bullet wound to the lower leg.

Officers arrived at the location, and the 26-year-old surrendered without incident.

Police recovered the gun and a shell casing in the carpet.

The 26-year-old was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of assault.
