Man punched, robbed while walking in U-District

SEATTLE — A man was assaulted and robbed as he was walking in the University District late Friday evening, police said.

The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. when a man was on a street in the 1500 block of Northeast 52nd Street.

According to police, two men jumped out of bushes and punched the man in the eye.

The two men then took $20 in cash and a six-pack of Dr Pepper from the man.

After the two men robbed the victim, they fled the scene.

Police said the two men were found several blocks away, but the victim could not positively identify them.

According to police, one of the men detained had a prior conviction for robbery. Both men detained fit the description, and they were seen running from the area of the incident.

The two men were eventually identified and released from the scene.

The victim did not have any serious injuries and declined medical attention.
