• Man pulls struggling rescuer out of water at Renton park

RENTON, Wash. - A rescuer turned into a victim Saturday when he tried to save two people in Lake Washington, authorities said.

The incident happened at Gene Coulon Memorial Park around 2 p.m.

An eyewitness told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News two people jumped off a dock. A man in his 40s, fully clothed, jumped in and got them out, but then he needed help.

Another man jumped in and got him out.

Crews arrived to the location and rushed the man to Harborview Medical Center. His condition is unknown at this time.

Antonio Galvin told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Henry Rosoff that he saw the man who needed to be saved.

“Pretty much everybody was standing around making sure he was OK. He did the right thing, I mean that’s what I would have done for anybody’s kids,” said Galvin.

Renton fire officials told KIRO 7 they were called out for three near-drownings Saturday.
