Man lying in driveway run over by driver

SEATTLE — A woman ran over a man who was for some reason lying down in a driveway outside a Seattle parking garage Thursday night.

Seattle police said that shortly before 7 p.m., a woman driving a gray Subaru was exiting a parking garage at Yale Avenue North and North Mercer Street when she ran over the man.

The driver said she didn't realize someone was lying in the street until she struck the man.

Medics responded and transported the man to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The driver was interviewed at the scene. A drug recognition officer evaluated the woman and determined that she was not impaired. 

She was released at the scene.

It is not known why the man was lying in the driveway.
