Man with knife chases medics in Pioneer Square

An armed man with a knife was arrested Friday night after he chased medics in Pioneer Square, police said.

SEATTLE — At about 8:45 p.m. medics from the Seattle Fire Department responded to the Second Avenue Extension South and South Main Street for a medical issue.

Police said as crews treated a patient in the back of the medic unit an unknown man started pounding on the door and stated he wanted to talk to his friend.

According to authorities, after the medics opened the door the man started waving an open folding knife at them.

The medics got out of the vehicle to get away from the man.

Police said the man started chasing the medics around as they called police for assistance.

A metro bus driver in the area stopped to help, and the medics and driver knocked the suspect to the ground before officers arrived.

No one was injured during the incident.

The man was arrested and later booked into the King County Jail.
