Man killed in hit-and-run near Belfair


BELFAIR, Wash. - A pedestrian was killed Saturday morning after he was struck by a vehicle in Mason County, said the Washington State Patrol. 

The collision happened on State Route 300 in Belfair around 7:30 a.m. 

According to State Patrol, a pedestrian was walking westbound on the highway, just west of Larson Lake Road. A vehicle traveling westbound hit the pedestrian.

The pedestrian died at the scene and he was found on the shoulder lane of the highway several hours after the collision.

Troopers closed the highway to investigate the scene. 

On Saturday afternoon, a driver was taken into custody who may have been involved in the hit-and-run and also found a vehicle involved.
