Man killed in 3-car crash on SR 2 near Eagle Falls Creek

INDEX, Wash. — For the second time in as many days, there was a fatal crash on Highway 2 in Snohomish County.

At 11 a.m. on Friday, state patrol troopers were called to a three-car crash at milepost 39 near Eagle Falls Creek, where there are several curves.

Police said a Dodge caravan driven by a 65-year-old Wenatchee man crossed the center line and hit Toyota Camry head-on.

A Chrysler New Yorker sideswiped the van while trying to avoid the crash.

The driver of the van died on the way to the hospital.

No one else involved in the crash was seriously injured.

Investigators are trying to determine if the victim had some sort of medical problem that caused him to crash.

The road was blocked for about 2-1/2 hours before it reopened at 2:40 p.m.
