Man hurt in Edmonds apartment fire

EDMONDS, Wash. - A man was injured in an Edmonds apartment fire Sunday morning, said fire officials.

The fire happened in the 7400 block of 212th Street around 8:15 a.m.

According to the Edmonds Fire Department, a neighbor called 911 and reported seeing smoke.

When crews arrived at the scene, a man was pulled out of the burning apartment. The fire was extinguished.

The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Fire officials estimated $30,000 in damage and the other units in the building were not damaged.

The unit where the fire started had a smoke alarm but it did not go off because there were no batteries in it.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
