SEATTLE —

A man has life threatening injuries after being hit by a car in Seattle’s University District.

The accident happened around 8:20 p.m. Friday night on 7th Ave NE.

The driver of a black Audi told KIRO 7 a man in dark clothing ran across the street in front of him and hit him with his car. The impact shattered the windshield on the Audi.  There were three men inside the car at the time.

According to the Seattle Fire Department, the man received critical injuries and was taken to Harborview Medical Center.

Police closed NE 50th Street for several hours Friday night to investigate the crash.

The KIRO crew at the accident spotted a skateboard on the ground near the car, but the driver said the man wasn’t on it when he crossed 50th Street and was hit by the car. They think it’s possible he was carrying it.

Investigators took pictures and measurements as they pieced together exactly what happened at the scene of the accident.
