Man fires shots at Kent apartments; no injuries reported

KENT, Wash. — A man fired two shots Wednesday night in a Kent apartment complex, police said.

The incident happened at the Sterling Ridge Apartments at 11300 Kent Kangley Road.

Officers responded to the location after a resident called to report a gunshot that had pierced a screen in her home.

When police arrived, officers heard a second shot fired.

During an investigation, police said the shots came from a nearby unit in the complex.

Officers contacted the residence where the shot came from, and police said the man living in the unit fired the two shots because he believed that someone was trying to attack him.

Officers took the man into protective custody, and held him for a mental evaluation.

Police said no one was injured during the incident, but there was minor property damage.

According to Pat Lowery of the Kent Police Department, there is no evidence indicating the occupants were targeted in the apartment struck.
