Man fires several shots, barricades himself in North Seattle home

SEATTLE — Police said an intoxicated elderly man was shooting off his gun and barricaded himself inside his North Seattle home early Sunday morning.

The incident happened at a home in the 8900 block of 31st Avenue Northwest.

Police responded to the location after a report of shots fired.

When a SWAT team arrived, they heard two shots fired from the home.

The Seattle Police Department’s Hostage Negotiators got in contact with the man, who then voluntarily went outside of the home.

The man was taken into custody.

Police found two bullet holes in the basement. Police also took in a handgun and six rifles.

The man was taken to the hospital on a 72-hour involuntary commitment.

There were no injuries reported.
