Man, dog rescued from grounded boat off Jetty Island

EVERETT, Wash. — A 42-year-old man and his dog were rescued from a 35-foot yacht Friday morning near the Everett Marina, said officials with U.S. Coast Guard.

Around 2:30 a.m., a distress call was made to the Coast Guard from a man on board a boat with his dogs off the southeast end of Jetty Island, across from the Everett Marina.

The man told authorities he took off around midnight and ran into rocks. He stayed until help arrived.

When the Coast Guard couldn’t reach the yacht, they called the Everett Police Department marine unit around 4:30 a.m.

The man and his dog were rescued from the boat, and they were not injured.

Crews plan to tow his boat back into shore in the afternoon.
