• Man dies in Everett duplex fire


    EVERETT, Wash. - A man died in an Everett duplex fire early Saturday morning, according to fire officials.


    Crews responded to a heavily-involved fire that happened at a duplex in the 6400 block of Fleming Street at 3:30 a.m.


    Firefighters found the man in a bedroom during an initial searched and took him outside where crews could perform CPR on him, but he could not be revived.


    According to the Everett Fire Department, a man passed by the duplex and pounded on the door of the north side after noticing the fire. He called 911 and told the dispatcher he pounded on the door and window on the south side of the duplex, but there wasn’t a response.


    Four people were in the north side of the duplex and they evacuated safely after hearing the pound. They were not injured.


    Investigators are still determining the cause of the fire.
