Man in custody after police standoff in North Seattle


Police took a man into custody Sunday morning after a North Seattle standoff.

SEATTLE - A 39-year-old man was taken into custody Sunday morning after a police standoff in North Seattle, police said.

The incident happened in the 700 block of North Motor Place, where authorities said a man assaulted his girlfriend at 4:30 a.m.

Officers were in a standoff with the man. A SWAT team and negotiators at the scene tried to get the man to surrender. He had a warrant for his arrest.

Just before 9 a.m., the man surrendered and was taken into custody. He was booked for felony domestic assault.
