Man crushed behind loading dock, truck in North Seattle

SEATTLE — Medics said a man may die from injuries received when he was pinned behind a delivery truck at a loading dock at a North Seattle grocery store Friday.

Police said that shortly after 5 a.m. Friday, a delivery driver backed her truck into the loading dock area behind the QFC at 9999 Holman Rd NW. The driver got out of her truck and walked into the store to get an employee to help her unload the delivery.

When the driver and employee returned to the truck, they saw the man pinned between the loading dock and truck.

The workers called 911 and Seattle fire and police responded. The man was transported to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad responded, processed the scene, and have started their investigation, police said.

Police said the truck driver did not show any signs of impairment and has been cooperating with the investigation.

Investigators are trying to determine if the man was sleeping near the loading dock or if he walked behind the truck as it backed in.
