• Man with butcher knife robs U-District convenient store

    SEATTLE - Police are looking for a man with a butcher knife who robbed the Plaid Pantry store in the University District Friday night. 

    According to police, at about 10 p.m. officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at Northeast 50th Street and Roosevelt Way Northeast. 

    Witnesses told police a man entered the store, approached the clerk, displayed a large knife and demanded money from the cash register. 

    The man then fled the scene after taking money from the register. 

    Officers, a K-9 unit and the King County Sheriff’s Office’s Guardian helicopter sesarched the area but could not locate the man. 

    Police described the man as white, 5 feet 10 inches and about 200 pounds. He was wearing a black and gray hooded sweatshirt and a white mask. 

    There were no injuries during the incident. 

    Detectives will continue to investigate the armed robbery.
