LYNWOOD, Wash. - A man was arrested for using his smartphone to video record a 14-year-old girl in a shower, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News partner The Daily Herald in Everett reported.
The teenager was visiting the apartment of a man her family knows.
As the girl was taking a shower, she noticed a smartphone placed against a small black bag containing bathroom items, according to court papers.
When the girl looked closer, she saw that the phone was recording video and pointed in the direction of the shower.
The Herald reported that the girl stopped the recording and opened up another video that showed her showering on a different day. She told police that she did not know about being recorded.
According to court papers, the girl used her cellphone to record the two videos. As she left the apartment, she confronted the man.
The girl and her mother gave Lynwood police the video she recorded, and the man told an officer he forgot to turn the recording off on his phone when he recorded the girl playing with a dog and then left it in the bathroom.
The officer arrested the man for investigation of voyeurism and sexual exploitation of a minor. A judge set bail at $5,000 in the Everett District Court on Friday.
