• Man arrested after running over teen in Tumwater

TUMWATER, Wash. - Tumwater police said a 13-year-old boy may have been lying in the middle of the road when a truck ran over him.

The teenager was critically injured at about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday after a truck driven by 51-year-old Brett Graham ran over him as he was lying on the road near Linderson Way and Dennis Street.

“At this point we believe the victim was alone so we can’t say at this point why he was in the street,” said Tumwater police spokeswoman Detective Jennifer Kolb.

Police said the teen was badly hurt and is now being treated at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Police arrested Graham on charges of vehicular assault.

Kolb said Graham failed a field sobriety test conducted by officers at the scene, “and they believe he was under the influence of an unknown substance.”

A representative with the Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office said no charges would be filed against Graham until further investigation and review of the evidence.

Police did not release the teenage victim’s identity because he is a minor.
