Man accused of strangling pet hawk

SEATTLE -  A man police said was caught strangling a hawk in downtown Seattle is under investigation for animal cruelty charges.

Seattle said they believe the man was suffocating this hawk, and when officers tried to grab his arms, he gripped the bird tighter.

Police said the man appeared to be drunk.

He was arrested after he released the bird.

The hawk was taken to an animal shelter where it was euthanized because its injuries were too serious.
