SEATTLE - Drivers should expect a slow commute in Seattle this weekend because of lane closures on Interstate 5 for construction work.
Starting Friday at 8 p.m. until 5 a.m., three northbound lanes from South Albro Place and Industrial Way will be closed. Crews also will close the Swift Avenue South on-ramp to northbound I-5.
A signed detour will direct drivers to the Michigan Street on-ramp to northbound I-5, said officials with the Washington State Department of Transportation.
Crews will finish repairing the worn and aging expansion joints on the elevated freeway.
The closure is the second and final weekend closure for the project.
"Sunny skies, hard-working crews and cooperative drivers combined to make the first of two weekend-long closures a success," said WSDOT project engineer Aleta Borschowa. "We're hoping for an exact repeat for part two this weekend."
