Woman stabbed in Duwamish greenbelt area known as 'The Jungle'

SEATTLE — Seattle police are searching for a suspect after a woman was stabbed in the Duwamish green belt Sunday.

It happened near an area that used to house a homeless encampment known as "The Jungle.”

Investigators say the woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center and is expected to be OK.

They do not know if the attack was random.

KIRO 7 reached out to the City of Seattle to see if it is planning some extra outreach following the attack.

The city shared a statement that said in part:

"The team frequently learns of such incidents and responds accordingly. Ultimately, the team tries to get people out of these unsafe and inhumane conditions and into safer shelter."
