Witnesses sought after woman falls from elevated freeway

SEATTLE — The Washington State Patrol is seeking witnesses to an incident in which a pedestrian from a disabled car fell over a cement barrier, landing on concrete below the freeway.

On Sunday at 11:17 p.m., WSP dispatch received a call from a man saying his 30-year-old girlfriend had fallen over a barrier on southbound Interstate 5 just north of the exit to the West Seattle freeway.

The man said he got a call from his girlfriend asking for help after her silver 2001 Volkswagen broke down on the freeway.

As he arrived, he noticed her lying unconscious on cement about 40 feet below where her car was parked.

Troopers and Seattle Fire Department arrived and transported her to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.

The WSP is asking anyone who may have seen anything related to the incident to call or contact Detective Vik Mauro at Victoria.mauro@wsp.wa.gov or 425-401-7746.
