The Washington State House voted to ban bump stocks, something that can be used to enable a weapon to fire rapidly – as many as 400 to 800 rounds per minute.

The Senate already passed similar legislation earlier this year.

Governor Jay Inslee called for a state ban on the attachments after the Las Vegas massacre last year. He applauded the vote on Friday.

Earlier this week, President Donald Trump directed the Justice Department to also look at banning bump stocks.

Trump's surprise order this week comes as officials from the department's Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are well into a review of whether they can regulate the devices without action from Congress.
