WA: 217 COVID-19 cases found among 1.7M fully vaccinated

OLYMPIA, Wash. — State health officials say 115 more cases of fully vaccinated people testing positive for COVID-19 have been discovered out of 1.7 million people who have been fully vaccinated in Washington.

The state Department of Health said Wednesday they’ve now recorded a total of 217 of those cases in 24 of the state’s 39 counties.

Officials say the breakthrough cases, as they are known, are expected with any vaccine.

Officials also said Wednesday they are investigating five suspected deaths of people who experienced vaccine breakthrough.

Officials say the breakthrough cases represent about .01 percent of the fully vaccinated population.
