Two arrested after man found dead in Everett swamp

EVERETT, Wash. — In mid-April, police arrested a 46-year-old man in connection with the death of a man found dead and partially submerged in an Everett swamp.

Everett police arrested James D. Archer on April 14 on a murder charge. On Friday, they arrested a second person, Christine F. Simpson, for her role in Webster's murder.

Archer is accused of killing 54-year-old David Webster and dragging his body into a swampy area where it was later found.

Police say Simpson allegedly orchestrated the events that led to Webster’s death and was present during the murder, although she continues to deny this.

New information revealed that Webster owed Simpson a drug debt and she enlisted the help of her boyfriend, Archer, to enforce reimbursement.

Family of murdered David Webster told KIRO 7 that he had some serious struggles and was likely living in the homeless encampment where his body was discovered -- but they also said he was a loving father, grandfather and partner.

Archer allegedly bound Webster, found the wanted money and then attempted to hide the body after realizing Webster was dead.
