Transformer fire knocks out power to 2,500; Tumwater schools

TUMWATER, Wash. — Seven schools and a support building as well as 2,500 customers are without power after a Puget Sound Energy transformer fire.

Crews are estimating that the power will be back on at 10 a.m.

The following schools are without power:

Littlerock Elementary

Peter G. Schmidt (partial)

Michael T. Simmons (partial)

Bush Middle School

A.G. West Black Hills High School

Tumwater High School

New Market Skills

Support Services building

Sixth grade transition activities at the middle school have been canceled. The eighth grade visit from Bush Middle School to New Market has also been canceled.  Lunch will be served at all sites, but may be different than what is published on the menu.

Phones at the sites affected (except Peter G. and Michael T.) are not working. If you have an emergency and need to contact someone, please call the District Office at 360-709-7000.
