Trailer burns on northbound I-5 near Mercer Street

A trailer caught on fire Tuesday afternoon on northbound Interstate 5, near Mercer Street.

According to a Washington State Department of Transportation camera, the trailer was being pulled by a red pick-up truck when flames erupted from the trailer.

The driver pulled over, exited his truck, detached the burning trailer and pulled his truck forward.

The trailer continued to burn until the Seattle Fire Department arrived about 20 minutes later.

By 4:30 p.m., firefighters had extinguished the blaze.
