Thousands of pills seized from suspected Xanax dealer, Seattle police say

SEATTLE — Officers with the Seattle Police Department seized thousands of Xanax pills from a suspected drug dealer in South Seattle on Thursday.

The South Precinct Anti-Crime Team and narcotics investigators served a warrant at an apartment in the 3400 block of Rainier Avenue South around 6 a.m.

"The investigation was part of an effort to target dealers preying on methadone patients in the Seattle area," Seattle police said in a blotter post.

Police arrested a 30-year-old suspect at the scene. In the suspect’s apartment, police said they found:

  • Over 3,500 pills
  • A magnetic card strip reader and coder device
  • Blank credit cards
  • A laptop with labels from a local school district
  • A stolen driver's license
  • A notice indicating customs agents had recently seized over 600 grams of Xanax

Police said the 30-year-old suspect was booked into the King County Jail on suspicion of narcotics possession and a DUI warrant.
