Thousands of people visit Project Paws Pet Expo & Adoption Event

KIRO 7's Project Paws Pet Expo & Adoption Event attracted thousands of animal lovers earlier today.

The event, now in its third year, brings together six shelters from across the Puget Sound. It took place at the Marketplace at Factoria from noon until 3 p.m.

The goal is to help as many animals as possible find forever homes. And it’s not just dogs and cats; other animals, like rabbits and lizards, were available, as well.

The president of the Auburn Valley Humane Society, Phil Morgan, said this collaboration is priceless for shelters that work year-round to help animals.

“It’s a great event, and we are thankful for KIRO for putting this on for us,” said Morgan. “The most important thing is finding the animals the right home. The right home is what our mission is behind.”

Among the people who came to adopt is Kirby Long. She just lost a family dog and was hoping to find a new cat to keep her company.

“I am so excited to bring a new furry friend into my life,” said Long. “Pets bring so much joy to people’s lives. It’s the little things that are so important to me."

Some of our KIRO 7 personalities, including our evening anchor, Dave Wagner, were also on hand to meet viewers and encourage them to adopt.

At the end of the day, we are happy to report that dozens of animals found forever homes.
