Seattle police: Teen accidentally shoots, kills himself

SEATTLE — Investigators are trying to figure out how a West Seattle teenager got a gun that ended up killing him.

Police say the 15-year-old boy was handling a gun when he accidently shot himself inside a duplex on Highpoint Drive Southwest about 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Friends and family were in the home when the teen accidentally pulled the trigger. Some were in the same room as the teen.

"For individuals who either have firearms make sure for our kids' sake make sure we lock those things up because accidents do happen," said Seattle police spokesman Captain Pierre David.

Police are continuing their investigation.
