Investigators say they first responded to a 911 report of a stabbing and found Zimmerman laying on his back in the front yard with a stab wound in his back.

When officers interviewed the witness who called 911, he initially told detectives he was Zimmerman’s friend and that Zimmerman had been at his house that evening. Zimmerman apparently also invited Bishop and Boshears to the house.

The witness told police Zimmerman and Bishop started arguing over a drug deal. Detectives uncovered cellphone evidence showing that Zimmerman contacted Bishop and Boshears to try to purchase psychedelic mushrooms for $300.

The witness said he and Zimmerman handed over the money for the drugs, but decided to not go through with the drug deal once they saw the mushrooms. Zimmerman demanded his money back and handed the mushrooms back to Bishop, but Bishop refused to return the money.

The two started fighting in the house and the scuffle spilled into the front yard. According to the witness, Zimmerman said: “Ow, what did you hit me with?” and then collapsed.

According to the prosecutor’s office, Bishop and Boshears were arrested and provided statements to police about the mushrooms and stabbing.
