Suspect arrested after teen, woman groped in Parkland

A suspect was located and taken into custody after a teenager and a woman were groped in Parkland on Sunday, police said.

Officers said two separate incidents were reported Sunday morning around 10:30.

In the first incident, a woman said the man grabbed her rear end outside an espresso stand on Pacific Avenue South.

In the second incident, a 15-year-old said when she was walking past a Walgreens store at 121st Street South and Pacific Avenue South, a man began following her and introduced himself as “Cruz,” making sexual comments and saying he was a gang member who had “killed a lot people.”

The girl told police the man began touching her and grabbing her rear end, struck her in the face, told her he could kill her, then lifted his shirt and revealed what the girl believed was a handgun.

Shortly after these incidents were reported to police, officers found the suspect near the Parkland Transit Center.

Both of the female victims were brought to see him and independently identified him with certainty.

The suspect, a 23-year-old whose name was not provided, was booked into the Pierce County Jail.
