Thursday evening a man who identified himself as the girl’s father spoke to the KIRO 7 crew that was on scene. He didn't want to go on camera, but said his daughter, who he identified as Deanna, had tests done and they were still waiting on results from Harborview Medical Center.

The hospital confirmed she was in the intensive care unit.

Several people who spoke to KIRO 7 described 120th Street Southwest as a busy stretch of road, right near one of the main entrances to Mariner High. A bus driver said dismissal is one of the busiest times of the day.

The accident occurred just a few dozen yards from the doorways of the high school, and a staircase that leads to an athletic field across from the school.

Carleen Heath lives in a nearby apartment complex and commented that many students behave like typical teenagers, often unaware of the just how heavy traffic is.

Hours after the accident investigation, orange marks lined the exact location where the teen was hit. Authorities said the driver stayed on scene and cooperated. The Snohomish County Sheriff's office says an investigation is ongoing, and no decision has been made on tickets for the driver.

There is no crosswalk on the section of the roadway where the accident occurred.
