Husky fans everywhere rejoiced Sunday afternoon when star running back Myles Gaskin announced on twitter that he would forego the NFL draft and return to the University of Washington for his senior season.

Gaskin, a 5-feet-10-inch 190 pound running back from O’Dea High School, holds the University of Washington record with 45 career touchdowns, and was a 2017 All-Pac 12 Second Team member.

Gaskin will enter the 2018 season needing only 51 yards to match Napolean Kaufman’s school record of 4,106 rushing yards.

Gaskin ran for 98 yards and two touchdowns in UW’s Fiesta Bowl loss to Penn State, and was widely considered to be a mid-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

"I'm not going to lie, losing this last game is going to leave a sour taste in my mouth, and I don't like leaving places with a sour taste in my mouth," Gaskin told The Seattle Times after the Fiesta Bowl. "So that's definitely going to be factor in to whatever decision I make."

Gaskin’s return to UW will surely raise the expectations for what will be a senior-laden Washington offense next season.

Left tackle Trey Adams, who suffered a season ending injury during the team’s loss at Arizona State, will also return for his senior year.

The University of Washington opens their 2018 season against the Auburn Tigers at the Mercedes Benz dome in Atlanta on Sept. 1.
