A small plane emergency landed near McNeil Island in Washington Saturday, Gig Harbor police said.
Police and marine units were responding around 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Pierce County Sheriff officials said the pilot was uninjured.
Officials said the pilot was the only person in the plane.
The plane had to make the emergency landing because of an engine malfunction, officials said Saturday.
The News Tribune reports the plane is an experimental aircraft, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
