A King County 14-year-old took his parents car without their permission to buy fireworks and ended up catching it on fire.
According to firefighters, the boy and his friends started shooting Roman candles at one another on the evening of July 4.
One went through an open window and started a fire while they were in Skyway.
Firefighters told KIRO 7 News it could have been much worse.
"If we had drier conditions, as we'll start to see here shortly, this absolutely could have been not just a car fire, but exposures to two homes that were nearby,” said Skyway Fire Department spokesman Dave Nelson.

Firefighters in the Puget Sound area responded to at least five overnight fires as the holiday came to a close.
