A skier who fell 150 feet into a crevasse and was trapped at Mount Rainier National Park has died.

Officials said the skier had summited the mountain with two others on Sunday and that as they were heading back on Monday, he fell into a crevasse on the Emmons Glacier at about 12,800 feet.

When six climbing rangers reached the man in the crevasse they found he had suffered traumatic injuries and was unresponsive.

The man was taken to the Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office; his identity has not been released.
