Skagit sheriff: Estranged husband attacks woman, severs arm

Skagit County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a man they suspect severed his estranged wife's arm in a machete attack near Mount Vernon.

Eric Danial Woody is in jail on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder. His wife was taken to Harborview Medical Center, but a spokesperson for the hospital has not confirmed her condition.

KIRO 7 News learned that deputies responded on Sunday night to a home on Farm to Market Road, where the estranged wife was living.

Another man and woman were at that home.

Woody injured the man, though it’s unclear if the machete was used in that attack. He then cut his wife’s forearm so severely it was almost completely cut from her body.

Charges for Woody may be upgraded to reflect the attack against the other man.
